The Shire

My Large format class took a field trip to The Shire, a landscape architecture department property north of Portland. Here are some images I took with my D200.

Iron Age

I went down to Dexter last night to photograph this bridge with my 4x5 and ended up taking a bunch of images with my D200. Here are a few selected ones:

The colors of photography are black and white

Here are some of the 4x5 black and whites I've been shooting lately. Number 16 is my personal fav. I spent close to an hour walking down the tracks and climbing down through the blackberry bushes behind a chemical plant to get to this spot and another 20 minutes or so setting up the shot when I heard the train coming. I had about 10 seconds to calculate my setting and expose the film before the locomotive moved out of the shot.

4X5 black and whites

For a while now I've been interested in country stores. They're quickly dying in this country. I started this past summer with my Nikon but I decided to shoot some in black and white for my large format course. I only have one of them scanned so far. I'll get the rest in a about a month when I get some time. I took this with my Crown Graphic on Kodak tMax 100 and a #25 red filter.

Poster design

Well, I guess I'll post some of my latest work. This was a poster project for a design course. The information is real, the design was up to me. I really love doing this stuff. This was done specifically for print output so I'm afraid the jpg doesn't really cut it. It looks beautiful on glossy paper.
